Great British Bash is like every other online seller, in that we will collect personal information on you, when you shop with us. It helps us to give you a better shoppping experienece if we know a little about you and your preferences. It means that we can process your orders quickly and also tailor any offers to you, if marketing materials or emails are to be sent out to you. In the unlikely event that there was a problem with your order, we would be able to get in touch, let you know what’s happening and deal with it faster.

This makes us accountable for the data we hold and also means that we have to comply with a strict code of conduct. What personal data we collect and why we collect it

We learn about your preferences when you shop with us via booking payments, wish lists and data forms.

What we need to know

We need the obvious information such as your name address and email details, so we can complete orders and billing online.If you’re registered for our Wedding Design Service, we will also ask you questions about your venue, wedding dates, colour preferences and other details. We need this inforamtion to build a full picture of your Big Day plans, so we can better assist in getting the ‘look’ you want.


When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.


If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

Our website analytics gathers general information bout our customers but not personal details such as names or addresses.

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

We keep your information for as long as you are actively shopping with us. If we don’t hear from you for a period of five years, we will sadly remove you from our data base. (But of course, if you revisit then you can open a new account at any time andd we’d love that!)

If our business is sold, the database would be sold at the same time.

If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

When you shop with us, if you use a credit card company such as Visa or paypal, your information is shared with them, so that the transaction can be completed. Otherwise we don’t share your information with third parties.  Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.
